About the Author

Glenn Davis Stone is an anthropologist and environmental scientist whose research has spanned food production and agriculture (both industrial and sustainable), biotechnology in food and agriculture (GMO crops), politics of technology, indigenous knowledge and decision-making, food studies and science studies.

He has conducted research in Nigeria, India, the Philippines, and the US, with primary funding from the National Science Foundation. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and two books.

He has been named a Guggenheim Fellow, a Weatherhead Fellow at the School of Advanced Research, president of the Anthropology & Environment Society.

After 34 years on the faculties of Columbia University in NY and Washington University in St. Louis, he is now semi-retired and serving as Senior Research Professor at Washington & Lee University. His primary home is a farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains, with his wife Priscilla and Bluetick Coonhound Lulu.
